THE COMPLETE GUIDE TO PHOTO MECHANIC, MY #1 FAVORITE BROWSER

Photo Mechanic by Camera Bits

The Complete Guide to Photo Mechanic. Photo Mechanic has been my go-to browser for the last 20+ years. I remember when Adobe Bridge first came out and it was slow and horrible. Photo Mechanic made by Camera Bits had just hit the market and we were looking for something new. This browser was fast, simple and had full integration for captioning images. I do not work in the field of photojournalism anymore, but I still photograph a lot of editorial content. Even if I, didn’t I would still use this Photo Mechanic.

In this video I will walk you through my favorite browser and show you some of its stand out features. We will start with the ingest feature which will allow you to use variables, to set up clients, folders and renaming. Next we will look at IPTC data or metadata. This is one of the key features for the program. If you would like to see IPTC data in an image hit the quick key, MAC-cmd/opt/shift /i and PC cntl/alt/shirt/i (all four keys at once.). Once you import or ingest you are able to start culling as the first image appears. No waiting for the copy and image preview rendering. In Photo Mechanic it happens fast and as you work. The last feature is code replacement, but you will have to watch the video to find out what that is.

Photo Mechanic is a fast streamline browser with integration of IPTC, Code Replacement, and FTP.

I have a Facebook Group called, “Learn Adobe Lightroom, Photoshop, and Bridge.” I created this group because I get a lot of questions on YouTube that are hard to answer unless I can see the issue. This will allow a place you can ask questions, and more importantly post images and videos.
